Flashing 7i96 to support PWM outputs was created by nneil

7i96 Can't get PWM output - SOLVED
PCW says that "With correct firmware, the 7I96 will replace 1 or more step generators with PWM generators outputs".
Thanks in advance!
Neil
- What is the version of this firmware?
- How do I find out the current version of the firmware on my board?
- How do I flash the board with the correct firmware?
Thanks in advance!

7i96d_1pwm.bit is the correct firmware for a 7I96 with the last Step/Dir
output (step/dir 04) replaced with PWM/Dir
You update the firmware with mesaflash:
mesaflash --device 7i96 --addr x.x.x.x --write 7i96d_1pwm.bit
Where x.x.x.x is the 7i96 cards current IP address
This assumes 7i96d_1pwm.bit is in the current working directory
At this point you need to power cycle the card or issue a reload command
to load the FPGA from the updated flash memory:
mesaflash --device 7i96 --addr x.x.x.x --reload
7i96d_1pwm.bit is in the 7i96 support zip file in configs/hostmot2
output (step/dir 04) replaced with PWM/Dir
