Mesa 7i97 on Simodrive 611 + glass scales

I´m retrofitting an old DMU50 to Mesa 7i97, it has Simodrive 611 servo drivers which are I guess closed loop since the AC motors have encoders connected to the drivers. It also has LS486 Glass scales on all axis, which are/were connected to the TNC124 that is being replaced with Mesa and LinuxCNC.

As said before, the encoder on each motor is connected to the servo driver and I assume it has to be that way for the drivers to work.
So should I wire the glass scales to the 7i97 board? Doesn´t it create a conflict if both the Simo driver and 7i97 are trying to control the motor closed loop?

If the Simodrive 611s are running in analog velocity mode,
you must connect the glass scales to the 7I97/LinuxCNC
for position feedback.

I have an LS486, but I can't find any information about the signal pinout of the connector.

The problem is that I don't have the original cable, and the replacement cable is quite expensive.

Does anyone have the pinout or wiring information for the connector, or perhaps a diagram showing which signals correspond to each pin?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

1. Buy the cable
2. Figure it out yourself using a multimeter
3. Send it back

That looks like a 1V P-P sine output linear scale the needs an interpolator (EXE box or equivalent))

Yes, that’s correct. The signal is 1 Vpp, and I’ll be using an interpolator.

I was initially considering using Insize linear scales — I even bought them — but I came across some new HEIDENHAIN scales at a good opportunity, so I decided to go with a more reputable and proven brand.

It just seems like a very high price for a single cable. In fact, the price of the new cable is about the same as the price of the Chinese linear scale .
