Hi,

I need a to interface the following on the P1 connector of the Mesa 7i96:
  • 4 mpg quadrature encoders. These are the small thumbwheel type. no index pin required
  • 4 inputs--each encoder has a button
  • 1 step generator
  • 1 high speed counter 

    Can anyone instruct me on how to set this up? 
    Or maybe point me to a working bitfile :)

Is the high speed counter a full ( A,B,Z ) encoder or just 1 input?

Just one input for reading a v/f converter. The stepgen also needs only one output, as I’m only using it to clock the v/f chip.

I will take a look at this sometime this week.
Note that the 7I96S normally has an
INM on the isolated inputs so if that's
left alone, the P1 INM/MPG pins will be
numbered differently (on inm.01 instead of inm00)

7I96S config that matches the 7i96_p1inmspd config except for
different numbering of the MPGs
