I did search before posting. Really I did. I'm just not smart enough.
My machine has 6 microswitches wired NC in a loop. So I have 2 conductors going to TB3 pin 1 and 12. I also have another conductor going to TB3 pin 2 for my tool touch.
My HAL says:
net all-limit <= hm2_7i96s.0.inm.00.input-00
net probe-in <= hm2_7i96s.0.inm.00.input-01
net x-home-sw => joint.0.home-sw-in
net all-limit => joint.0.neg-lim-sw-in
net all-limit => joint.0.pos-lim-sw-in
net y-home-sw => joint.1.home-sw-in
net all-limit => joint.1.neg-lim-sw-in
net all-limit => joint.1.pos-lim-sw-in
net z-home-sw => joint.2.home-sw-in
net all-limit => joint.2.neg-lim-sw-in
net all-limit => joint.2.pos-lim-sw-in
net a-home-sw => joint.3.home-sw-in
net all-limit => joint.3.neg-lim-sw-in
net all-limit => joint.3.pos-lim-sw-in
Obviously I don't need one on 'A' but that seems minor.
I've attached .hal and .ini just in case there's something else amiss.
Clearly it's wired incorrectly. When I go into the HAL monitor inside of LinuxCNC, the little red dots never change when I trigger a switch.
Someone care to enlighten me?

7I96S inputs need a voltage source to activate.
(24 VDC is normally used for mechanical and proximity switches)
So limit switch loop wiring could be like:
Input common (TB3 pin 12) --> 24V common
+24V --> limit_switch_loop_start
limit_switch_loop_end --> TB3 pin 1 (Input 0)
(24 VDC is normally used for mechanical and proximity switches)
So limit switch loop wiring could be like:
Input common (TB3 pin 12) --> 24V common
+24V --> limit_switch_loop_start
limit_switch_loop_end --> TB3 pin 1 (Input 0)

My other reply got eaten.
Anyway, thanks. I wondered if that was the case and I tried stealing a 5v from one of the stepgens and it still didn't work. But I clearly did something wrong because it's working now. Thanks! I only have 29vdc in my controller box and TB3 says 5v-24v so I decided not to push it. It's working at 5v now.
Thanks for all your help getting this thing working, btw. I do appreciate it.

Isolated input range is 5V to 36V so 29V is fine

oh! P.10 of
www.mesanet.com/pdf/parallel/7i96sman.pdf
says 5v-24v. But I do see 36v in other places now (P.1, P.14). Maybe needs an update.
Thanks!
