step/direction interface was created by Type_Zero_Design
Just to verify, on the 7i76E board it has five channels of step/dir interface.
That includes:
GND
STEP0-
STEP0+
DIR0-
DIR0+
+5vP
In my drive with step/direction control do I use the GND and +5VP? or is that for analog voltage control?
link to drive manual: www.machsupport.com/forum/index.php?acti...34972.0;attach=46261
for reference my drive is SD*08NK0 in the manual
Is this the only absolutely necessary connections between the drive and Mesa card to test the drive?
Thanks!

From Manual Correcxt info
Step motor drives with single ended inputs
connect to just one of the STEP and DIR signal outputs, that is either the STEP+/DIR+ or
STEP-/DIR- signals, with the unused signals left unconnected at the 7I76E. The input
common signal on drives with single ended inputs connects to the 7I76Es GND or 5VP
pins depending on the drive type.
the DRIVE is only connected
STEP0-
DIR0-
Comen eighter GND or 5V depends on Driver settings positiv step or Negativ Step
see Datasheet SWITCH may be Internal Driver Brick

The four signals go in to pins 6,7,18,19 on CN1. The 7i76e is perfectly suited for this.
That't all you need from mesa. You will not use the +5V and GND.

The drive he points to has differential inputs.

Darkest Hour
I read that about six time in the manual but it didn't really help or make sense to me. What I took away is if you were only using single line step and direction you would somehow use the positive 5 volt and ground somehow.
Thanks for all the answers though
