I know when i disassemble it it will not be as good as it used to be but now is just a deadweight. Without replacing the seals and re-greasing it is not much useful anyway.
That is my thinking but i could be wrong.

the spanner holes are probably your preload. they are probably left handed threads taking a guess.

I would say that the outer ring with the M4 holes must screw in. So perhaps the tapped holes are to attach a tool to allow it to be unscrewed.

It is possible that there might be left-hand threads.

Have you tried asking on cnczone?

The strange thing is that the nut has the drive spline on it so i guess it needs to be locked somehow. I still can not comprehend that they would design it to drive iso40 through the nut only without it being locked somewhat.
Left hand thread would make it even worse.

Bit of a Victory. I have it apart. If anyone else try just remember they hose everything down with Loctite and I mean drown everything in it.
So heat is your friend.
Had to make couple peg spanners with about 1.5m pipe on it and lot of heat to soften loctite all threads were right hand threads.
Thank you for help and advice guys.

yeah i will second the peek inside to see how they did everything :)  spindles can get pretty complex so seeing the inside of a high end spindle would be interesting :)

Well for all you spindel lovers here it is. Have not pulled the shaft all the way cause that would have to go under the press again and i have not cleaned it since I don't want it dry while i wait for grease and seals.
The thread you see was absolutely hosed with loctite and the actual bearing housing too. Without at least 20t press lot of heat and decent peg spanners it would be no go.
