Mazak QT10N retrofit was created by Ashley
Hi thereI'm planning to retrofit a QT10N using Mesa hardware. It has a Mitsubishi TRA8 servo amplifier which drives both X and Z axis.It uses encoders as well as tach generators but I'm not sure how the tach generator is used or how to integrate it with Mesa/Linuxcnc. The tach generator signal appears to go to the NC rather than to the drives. Do I need to emulate a velocity signal? Im also having trouble figuring out the amp wiring.Servo wiring diagram attached.Help and advice appreciated,Ashley

Mitsubishi or Fanuc control?
For TRA8 no worries, i have already figured out everything.
The other wiring is a big undertaking, so get a lot of coffee ready, took several days chasing blue cables around, above, under, and inside the machine! :)
First thing, check if it has encoders or resolvers. If resolvers, find info about those and post here to confirm if they can be used or not. I had to remove mine and mount incremental encoders.
Here is something to get you started:

It's a mitsubishi control. I was fairly confident I have encoders but now you've got me concerned. (I had a skim of that thread you posted).

Hmm I'll start working on getting encoders fitted up in that case.

Thanks for your help tommylight
