Thanks for catching that, the diagram isn't the most readable. Here's the fixed version.

not a problem .  If it were me I would put in a contactor  ( basically a big relay ) on the Line side going to your
48 volt power supply after the breaker and control the contactor with the E-Stop switch instead of using the
E-Stop switch to directly open or close  the Line. The reason being the 48 volt power supply can draw quite
a bit of current and end up burning out or sticking the contacts of your E-Stop switch.
something like the below should do nicely albeit a bit overkill

you should also put a snubber across the contactor coil to help keep your E-Stop contacts from seeing a large voltage spike when you
open the switch. The one below should work

or you can use a solid state relay like the below. but only if your using a switching type of power supply .
if your using a toroidal then only use a contactor.

A bit of an update. I got it all put into a heavy metal case, and now the wiring is a bit more robust. Everything works the same as it did. Still need to get the E-stop wired to the 7i76 and make sure the relay is connected properly, but that's for later.

The question right now is:

Are there any settings, or jumper settings on the 7i92 to get power to the 7i76 when using the P1 cable instead of the regular parallel port on P2?

I've got the parallel port hooked up now and it works fine but I'd like to use a flat cable I've got to save some space. also not sure if I have the right flat cable. I've looked through the manual for the 7i92  but didn't see anything obvious.  See photos

thanks

You would need different firmware to use a 7I76 on P1
(the 7I92 power options are described on page 2 of the 7I92 manual)

If you want to use a flat cable you could make your own with 2
male IDC connectors a the desired length of flat cable

Thanks I might try that at some point. But for now I guess the standard cable works.

Another thing I would like to get working is spindle speed control through the 7i76. Here's a picture of the VFDs break out board. Is there any info on how this would need to be wired to the 7i76 and what settings I'd have to tweak in Linuxcnc, or if it's even possible to  control this VFD   ?

Should be possible:
VFD 7I76
5VOUT --> SPIN+
GND --> SPIN-
5VIN --> SPINOUT

Is "FWD" activated by connecting to GND?

So far no luck, the fwd outputs 11.64v. but not sure if that's active or not. I think I need to activate the breakout board somehow on the panel that came with this thing. It is outputting 5v and 12v on the output terminals though.

Sounds like you need to ground "FWD" to the "GND" terminal on the VFD to activate it

I should also note the VFD model number A2-4015m
