Tried to install a while back.......wasn't successful, was just easier to setup dual boot with Win10......Then realised I much prefer Librecad and CamBam......tho I really should get into FreeCAD other than for 3D printed models.

Update:

Seems to install just maybe a little too heavy for the T530......should give it a go on the Big Computer.

I am using FreeCAD lately designing some parts for the plasma machines i am building, once you get past "it does nothing" trauma, it is very, very nice and usable and full of features.
On youtube "Joko Enginiering" and "the hardware guy" have some very nice tutorials.

I am glad this is still an active topic. When I first had seen the opening topic date I had thought it was going to be all old posts.
Now the whole new can of worms that I am sure Windows 11 is going to bring, having linux options is comforting.

freecad does my head in with the fillet command.... one thing that fusion360 and autocad and bricscad get right.

someone please show me a better way!

I am about to autocad / bricscadify librecad and change the commands as my day job pays for bricscad but I can't justify it or autocad on my own hobby personal machines.

I only just use keyboard shortcuts or commands as I've been doing it +20 years and it's much faster for me than icons or ribbon bars etc.

Just because of this quote from there:

LinuxCNC is completely Open Source, free to use, and probably the most reliable, flexible, robust system out there. The AXIS Graphical User Interface is second to none (IMHO).
