LinuxCNC_Documentation.pdf 3.7.11.3 Home and Limit Switch wiring options

I am in the process of setting up a mill for linuxcnc and I am having trouble with section 3.7.11.3 of "LinuxCNC_Documentation.pdf." It seems to me that the following is incorrect since it describes the two figures has having the same behavior with respect to switch actuation:
"The figures below show the general idea of wiring multiple switches to a single input pin. In each case, when one switch is
actuated, the value seen on INPUT goes from logic HIGH to LOW."
In the first figure, the logic state is LOW and actuation of one switch will cause the input to go HIGH.
In the second figure, the logic state is HIGH and actuation of one switch will cause the input to go LOW.
Am I missing something or is this a documentation error?

I think it depends on the brakout board.
something like normally open or closed, or on a card it can probably be programmed.
On my breakout board I had to invert the pin if I recall correctly.
You will need to set your home sequence for your joints, 0 1 2 ECT.
