problem setting up external e stop was created by markd
I have been able to get the estop chain working except that I need output07 to drive a relay. There is no change in the state of output07 when the software estop is toggled. I have attached my hal file. Can anyone point me in the right direction to fix this problem.

you appear to have the estop commented out ?
# net estop-out <= iocontrol.0.user-enable-out
# net estop-ext => iocontrol.0.emc-enable-in

you may when using mesa cards need to invert the output
what relay / module are you using on the output ?

Thank you for the reply'. I need to activate a solid state relay which controls power to the drives and VFD.

you should be fine in that case , but watch that you may need to invert the output pin as i previously said

Thanks the estop chain is now working as required. I will now start the hardware check out. Although I have been using LinuxCNC for a while now this is the first time hand coding my hal files. I expect to run into other unforeseen problems.
