Hi,

Hopefully this will be an easy fix, but I'm a bit lost. I've been away from the machine for a few years and have already forgotten a lot about the system.

This morning I used the machine with no problems. I left the machine powered up but with the drives disabled as I was working at the other end of the shop. I heard the pneumatics going crazy and when I investigated LinuxCNC showed an X axis limit switch error. The switch seems to be fine so I restarted linuxcnc and I get this error:

Error: could not insert module /usr/realtime-3.4-9-rtai-686-pae/modules/linuxcnc/hm2_pci.ko: No such device
./R2E3-20-01-04.HAL:11: exit value 1
./R2E3-20-01-04.HAL:11: insmod for hm2_pci failed, returned -1

Tried reboot, Had a look for disconnected wires etc.

How can I go about debugging this? I have attached the dmesg hal and ini..

Thanks in advance
Tom

Error: could not insert module /usr/realtime-3.4-9-rtai-686-pae/modules/linuxcnc/hm2_pci.ko: No such device

Means the 5I25 PCI card was not found by the driver, probably indicating the 32bit "cookie" value it read was not valid

Since the BIOS found the 5I25 card at startup:
[ 0.299815] pci 0000:03:07.0: [2718:5125] type 00 class 0x110000

It most like means theres a problem with the Host PC PCI slot or 5I25 card
I would remove all system power, unplug the 5i25 card from the PC, and clean the card and PCI slot with contact cleaner or Isopropyl alcohol as dirty slots are often the cause of PCI connectivity issues

Amazing! Haven't got any contact cleaner so I just blew it out with compressed air and that fixed it.

Thanks for your help! I could have wasted a lot of hours trying to solve that myself.

Happy new year.
