What is the ping time?

Also the fact that you get the error so early-on is odd

could you run this command and port the results here:

mesaflash --device ethernet --addr 10.10.10.10 --verbose

OK that's current
Not really sure whats wrong although perhaps the iptables thing is causing trouble
What OS and version of linuxCNC are you running?
how did you install it?
Did you try the Stretch ISO? It should not have the iptables issue

PCW wrote: Not really sure whats wrong although perhaps the iptables thing is causing trouble

There are no iptables rules at this time

PCW wrote: What OS and version of linuxCNC are you running?

Unbuntu 18.04 using inplace install of (HEAD detached at v2.7.9)

PCW wrote: how did you install it?

in-place build of linuxcnc

PCW wrote: Did you try the Stretch ISO? It should not have the iptables issue

The 2.7 ISO did not work, when I looked I did not see the Stretch ISO when I did the install during March this year.
My issue was that the Wheezy did not support the ethernet chips so I could not use it.

I'll download the ISO and reinstall

Thanks

So I install the Stretch ISO, the ethernet works and I can start LinuxCNC with out an error.

I assume the issue is the estop / enable in the config.

How do I check if the interface is working when linux CNC is run from the menu ?
