Quadrature drive was created by skysurfer
Hello all,
I'm working away on my V2.1 machine and have some changes I'm looking at. V2 has been using Mode 1 (up,down) a throw back to the V1 Vexta step controllers I've since changed to Yaskawa Sigma V. With .0001" per step there has always been a limitation of ~60IPM (doing the math it approaches 10Khz), I'm looking at the quadrature drive (mode 2) since it's double width pulses I should in theory be able to run about 2x the speed I am currently, does that sound right? I haven't tried to set this up before so not sure of what there is going to be to editing HAL to do it. Previously I just did step config as per normal and made edits to make it run in mode 1 not sure if it's going to be that "easy" to change it to mode 2.

Quadrature will give you the same maximum step rate as step/dir if you use the
double step (reset_ mode) with step/dir == 1 step per base thread invocation

If you use the standard step/dir mode you can only step at 1/2 the base thread rate
