I have an onboard realtek and an intel pcie ethernet adapter. Which is best for stability with the Mesa ethernet control?
Onboard is realtek "rtl18168h-2"
PCIE is intel "82573"

I might not be the right person to answer this as i never had issues with any of those, except once with a certain RT kernel, but i can not recall was it Intel or Realtek.
Personally i have come to utterly hate Intel for the lack of improvement on processors and them selling crappy processors to the uninformed masses, but i would still choose Intel over Realtek, mainly because for LinuxCNC intel requires disabling coalescing to work properly, while realtek requires compiling drivers and sometimes messing the system in the process or finding an RT kernel that works with it.

I never had any real issues. Had the occasional error popup with realtime but never effected the machine. I have been using the realtek "onboard" for machine control.
