This Lenovo Laptop is a 4 core i5 8650 with hyper threading disabled and most of the I/O. I was able to get the latency down to 1.4ms for the Servo Thread and 2.5ms for the Base Thread, by manually tweaking the Grub default command line and adding a service to start at runtime to control the fans and power level. But with this result. Is the latency withing bounds of running a Mesa 7i96S without issue. I have disabled all of the I/O except for the USB and disk drive. I had to change the SSD from a NVME M.2 to an SATA III, m.w , Because interrupts were showing up for nvme0q4 causing issues. Evidenlty all cpu's have these interrupt queues by default and nothing can be done to reassign them.
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash consoleblank=0 fbcon=blank:0 nvme.io_queues=2 isolcpus=managed_irq,domain,3 nohz=on nohz_full=3 rcu_nocbs=3 processor.max_cstate=1 pcie_aspm=off rqaffinity=0,1,2 kthread_cpus=0,1,2 ipv6.disable=1 i915.enable_dc=0 i915.enable_fbc=0 i915.enable_psr=0 i915.enable_rc6=0 intel_idle.max_cstate=1 intel_pstate=disable skew_tick=1 mitigations=off nosmt nosoftlockup nowatchdog nvme_core.default_ps_max_latency_us=0 usbcore.autosuspend=-1"
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=""
I did not run rt_setup.sh - because I see no history in the header about the package and its uipdate. I do not know the vintage of the file.

My Timing - must be almost perfect. I just jointed the forum.on Oct 27. Posted on 10 28 - lost all the comments and replies -but kept the topic intact. Now we have a new forum. But not all is lost - I was asking if the 1400000ns (1.4ms) Servo Thread Jitter and the 2500000ns (2.5ms) would prevent my T490 from production runs with a Mesa 7i96. I had some feedback about a realtek ethernet/wifi might need new drivers. - But these are intel and non realtek drivers. Another suggestion is to use the iso downloads page to pull in the 2.84 version and run that. Unfortunately that was on a buster build and I could not get any terminal emulator or I think any x11 screens to pop up. So I am moving to a debian live image for Debian 12.15 with xfce - I have it loaded now on Trixie 13.5 from the linuxcnc/iso 9.9 live image,
But I will the Debian 12.15 iso image to my ventoy flash drive for later install.
The goal was set by tommylite - to see if I can run my Mesa 7i96s without errors. on the 2.84 iso load- but thats now moving to a Debian 12.15 live iso.
I have a PI400 that has 65us of Jitter on the Servo thread, and 125us on the Base Thread. and a Gigabyte B250-4E3 motherboard and gen 10 I5- 4core 4 thread - that has 16us on the servo thread and 97us on base thread. The T490 - was about as tweaked as I can get it. But the sporadic interrupts or delays in execution must not be tweakable. I if the 5ms Mesa 7i96s timeout value cant protect the setup fom being production CNC safe. I will repurpose it for something not real time.
