Gmoccapy 3.9.4, RPi4, (old) turret mill, 32 mm ballscrews, backlash up to 130 microns.
No problems for general jobs using backlash compensation.
But, the current job has a top and a bottom requiring reversal of the job on the mill.
There is some offset between the two sides, not enough to cause problems, but visible.
Chasing all the usual possibilities.
Then, I started wondering about exactly how the compensation is applied.
Is there any way of setting the compensation to zero when in a known table position ?
As a trial, I will clamp a 1-2-3 block square at a known position on the table.
Then approach from +X and +Y directions and home the DRO at the known position.
The job has a central bore which I will touch-off only in the +X and +Y directions.
The new Forum arrangement looks good to me,
John.
