The scalemax should definitely be the spindle speed that corresponds to 5V input at the VFD.
The question is what might be limiting your maximum spindle speed.

Does M3 S1000 give you only 101 rpm at the motion.spindle-speed-out pin?

Can you open a sim config (sim axis axis for example) and see if the same thing is true there?

Clcking the + button several times gives me:
You can try adding [DIiSPLAY] DEFAULT_SPINDLE_SPEED which will start the setting at that value rather than at 1rpm. (the config in the screenshot used 200, but I tried again without any entry at all and got 101, 201.. 10001 so your problem is not that.

So here is what I see now (still same problem)
[DISPLAY] DEFAULT_SPINDLE_SPEED 500
Scale 2000
M3 S1500
But only low fixed voltage out with no change at all.
Did update / upgrade to .11 = still same problem
Cheers
Bengt

No, this is slightly different. motion.spindle-velocity-cmd-rpm-abs is showing the correct number.
What do the hm2_5i25.0.7i76.0.0.spin* pins show?
And, what is the value of the related scale and limit parameters?
