They are differential (and isolated) outputs so your logic analyser needs to go on TX and /TX or you are unlikely to see anything.

The 7I85S outputs are differential but they are not isolated

Are you sure you don't have P2 and P3 swapped?

Stepgens 0..3 are on P3 = 7I85S TX0 through TX7

Hi,

I made a schematic of my connection. I am kind of scared to blow up the 7i85s or the 6i25.

Would this be a correct setup to start for one axis if in pncconf. as I/O connection 2 selected stepgen X axis on the 3rd dropdownbox?

Hope someone can review and let me know. Thx.

Do you have the 6i25 jumpers W7 & W8 set, as mention in the manual, for use with 5i25 bit files, if you are using 5i25 bit files ? (that's if this information is applicable)

Is the 6i25 jumpers set to supply power to the 7i85s ?

Hi ozzyrob,

I have left all at default... (As they were on delivery) as I think those are the correct settings. The 5i25 is loaded with firmware 5i25_7i85sx2 the frequency is 33 . And mesaflash worked to flash as 5i25.

So I haven't touched the jumpers yet.

I'd be inclined to read the manual to make sure how the board is setup matches the way you want to use it. Always pays to check.

Also that seems like a confusing axis connection

Why would you not assign stepgens in the natural order:

X = Stepgen 0 = TX0,TX1
Y = Stepgen 1 = TX2,TX3
Z = Stepgen 2 = TX4,TX5

That's a good question. Because the first drop-down menu I choose X than Y than Z and that leads to Tx6 and 7. But I will change that. Makes more sense indeed.

How about my schematic for connecting the driver is that looking ok?

Hereby my .hal and .ini files.

The current connection in my schematic isn't doing anything when i test axis or run the program. But if i look to the created hal and ini file, i am not so surprised. It just seems to me, that this 5i25 card has no idea to where to send the signal to the 7i85s.

Could someone check it out who knows what the hal file should look like. As for the moment i am stuck, nothing moves and no signals whatsoever on this TB6600 test driver.

thx

Have you read linuxcnc.org/docs/2.7/html/drivers/hostmot2.html#_pinouts and had a look at the output from dmesg as mentioned.

Another thing you could do is look at the sample configs and compare them to yours.
