Motor won't spin, MESA 5i25 + 7i76
this is my first wiring setup with MESA cards (5i25 + 7i76).
I just wanted to test if everything is connected properly.
So I have just one motor (nema 17) and want to test a jog
so I am using just axis x.
When I run the test of axis X, I cannot make it work.
I double checked the wiring and it should be fine.
I do not know how to debug this issue.
Can someone check or test my .ini and .hal file attached please?
Another thing I noticed is that my motor gets very hot even though it does not spin.
Is it usual thing with steppers?
Another thing why I wanted to ask is why PNCCONF comments this part by default?
I uncommented it.
Thanks a lot

Because Pncconf uses the direct pin names rather then using substitution.
It annoyed me to have to look up the pin name when I wanted to reference it.
Is there a way you could confirm the steps are being output on the pins?
Stepper motors can get pretty warm but not usually super quicker when doing nothing but it depends on the drive.

Or is there any tool for checking if the steps are sent over parport?

I have multiple options of selection of 5i25 in PNCCONF, I dont know which one to choose.
I selected the highlighted (see attached pic)

Because what I have read is that both of the STATUS LEDS on MESA 7i76 should illuminate for proper use. But only LED for power field lights up for me, not 5V LED.
The 5V should come from the parport right?
MESA 5i25 also does not illuminate. Only when I hit
mesaflash 5i25 --reload, it blinks for a short time.

If you are using a 5i25 with 7i76 you won't be using a PP
Have you checked the jumpers are in the correct position on the boards

On the 5i25 to get power from the host computer .
W1 or W2 which ever you are using has to be in the UP position the default is Down.
Please check the manual first though ie 5i25 and 7i76
Edit PCW post at the same time He will be correct
