Ok, slowly getting there, I had a permissions problem now fixed, and a problem between the ears, got it running but now I have to work out why I cannot get the GUI out of stop

another problem solved,, there was an open circuit in the e-stop line causing the G540 to fault condition, that and a correction in the e-stop gpio pin (was 16 but should have been 3),
Linuxcnc with mesa card now working almost OK, the 3 axis are homing and it will run a program, but the spindle is not turning on under program control, that's the next step, followed by the touch probe and remote pendant control.

Too late to help, but the answer is probably:
in addition to the buildbot repo:
www.linuxcnc.org/dists/buster/base/binary-amd64/

You will need the www.linuxcnc.org archive signing key, but may well already have it.

If you look through the files in buildbot.linuxcnc.org/dists you will see that mesaflash is in "base" not "master-rtpreempt"

Ericg I have unbanned you, but I suspect that the problem is a bouncing (exemail) email address.

Many thanks to Andy Pugh for sorting it out.
Now I sorted the spindle control out but I may need to ask about scaling, it does work it runs Ok but the PyVcp panel shows it running well above it's actual speed, and I have an issue with the touch probe to which I think I have the answer, I will continue this saga tomorrow.

Check in hal if the PyVCP is using
.....spindle.abs.rps
or
.....spindle.abs.rpm
it should use rpm

Perhaps I don't have things set up correctly, I have pyvcp_options.hal and it has 2 lines in it
net spindle-vel-cmd-rpm-abs => pyvcp.spindle-speed
net spindle-at-speed => pyvcp.spindle-at-speed-led
and in custom_postgui.hal
net spindle-at-speed => pyvcp.spindle-at-speed-led
sets spindle-at-speed true

nothing in the main hal file

Have I got things muddled?
