spindle config was created by bm1400
Hi all
I have a mesa 7i76e which i have managed to connect the steppers & are working,im realy strugling with the spindle connection to the vfd (minleaf AT1-2200x) the pot side is working & i can increase & decrease the speed in linuxcnc but for the life of me i cant get it to enable or reverse i have it connected:-
pin8 spindle dir +
pin7 spindle dir -
pin6 spindle ena+
pin5 spindle ena -
pin4
pin3 spindle +
pin2 spindle OUT
pin1 spindle -

if i run a wire from comon to x4 (sindle ena) it goes forward at the set speed & x5 (spindle rev) it reverses i just cant get linux th control the pins is there a way to test this please
I attatch my HAL file
Thanks in advance

You should be able to control this entirely from TB4

Code:
pin8 spindle dir+ --> X2 pin7 spindle dir- --> COM pin6 spindle ena+ --> X1 pin5 spindle ena- --> COM

The trick is figuring out the very obscure/terse manual and
setting up X1 for enable and X2 for direction

Thanks for the reply

i have tried as you said vfd settings
pin8 spindle dir+ --> X2 wired reverse
pin7 spindle dir- --> COM
pin6 spindle ena+ --> X1 wired enabled
pin5 spindle ena- --> COM

x1 & x2 are sitting at 12v & nothing changes (no voltage drop) when controlls are pressed i am at a loss as what to do next

if LinuxCNC is running and hm2_7i76e.0.7i76.0.0.spinena is true (verify with halmeter)
and you read +12V from TB4 pins 6 to 5 (at the 7I76), the 7I76 has been damaged.

If i disconect X1 & X2 Ihave zero volts on pins 5,6,7,8 using a multi meter.im not very good at linux ive only been using it for a week, if i try to use halmeter in the terminal window i get this.
(halmeter:3976): Gtk-CRITICAL **: 18:29:19.279: IA__gtk_widget_get_parent: assertion 'GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed

If you are using axis, try

Machine --> Show Hal Configuration --> the select hm2_7i76e.0.7i76.0.0.spinena
from pin list --> watch tab

i think it could be damaged as with axis running & i open show hal config it shows as workin (i think) there is nothink at all on5,6,7,8, if i connect as you say all pins show 12v & when the swithes are thrown the votage stays the same on all but the pot is still working.
my next question is there anyway i can configure any of the other pins on this board to spindle enable & spindle reverse or do i try and configure the rs422 (all of which i have no idea about) I do appreciate your patients

You can destroy the ENA and DIR outputs if you supply power to them (they are switches so shorted when on)

You might check with a Ohm Meter before giving up
(note, you cannot use the screws on the top of the terminal block
for testing unless you tighten the screws)

You cannot drive the VFD inputs with the 7I76 field outputs since they
require a sinking (short to ground/common) output and the 7I76 outputs
are sourcing. You would need to add an optoisolator, relay or transistor
to translate the 7I76's sourcing output into a sinking output
