Hello All,
I have an error after trying to set up a 7i76E with a Asus Essential 14 N150 NUC.
Running the latest Debian and installed Linux CNC as instructed by Mr Rod on his youtube video.
All the installation went smoothly, but i am facing this error during my connection to the card.This is my second install, I have previously set up a 7i96S system and is succesfully running.
I am running a 12V smps for the 7i76E board, could that could be a problem.I think I might have missed something here.Please find the error report attached.
Thank you,

Antony.

This sounds like a LinuxCNC installation issue:

iopl() failed: Operation not permitted

I am still getting pings from the card.
But the delay is sometimes high.

I thing the network driver might be mixed up?
This PC has realtek 8125 Ethernet chip.

How do we check if there is any conflict between the drivers?

This:

iopl() failed: Operation not permitted

Must be fixed before proceeding.

You can ping without root privileges but The hm2_eth driver
must block other programs access to the interface and this
requires root privileges.

This is most likely a LinuxCNC install issue or perhaps a BIOS security
setup issue (secure boot etc)

Code:
iopl() failed: Operation not permitted cannot gain I/O privileges - forgot 'sudo make setuid' or using secure boot? -parallel port access is not allowed

Disable secure boot  in your BIOS.
I had this issue recently. I thought I had done this to this machine ages ago but, I found it was hard to make the change stick. Eventually got it. I found the numeric keypad is not enabled in the BIOS and used the top row.

Hi, I did try it but did not work.

I have abandoned the idea of setting up the Linux Cnc in the nuc.

I tries the same operations in an anther compact mini itx system with i3 processor, it just worked fine.

Might be some network issue, due to the realtek nic driver.

Thank you,
Antony.

Probably a good idea. I had an expensive i7 NUC die before my very eyes and Intel made ridiculous offers under warranty that required me to invoke the Australian Trade Practices Act provisions to get a refund.
