Where is spindle instantiated?

Where is spindle instantiated? was created by JetForMe
I built my config from an example I found somewhere, and in it I refer to spindle.0.*, but I don't know where that component is being instantiated. Does it get implicitly loaded?

I see yours does not define num_spindles so it should default to 1.
