Installed parallel port wont function

Do I need to install driver?if so how. error message=

Did you set the parallel port address?

If this is a plug in card you either need to determine its address with lspci -v
or try the "0" or "1" address options (which means use the first or second parallel port found)

I have done both ,I think maybe I have bad card and have ordered another in case.
