Did you reboot to RT kernel ?

Yeah, I rebooted and am using the rt kernel

well a bunch of depends even though I install all the depends from rodw and dpkg-checkbuilddeps  didnt return anything.

ok got it. Weird. --fix-broken  installed the deps needed. Linuxcnc starts up now.
