I would like to know if the Mesa card 7i97 is supported by linuxcnc version 2.8.4.1?

Yes, it seems like it is supported by linuxcnc-2.8, but maybe not by the configuration utilities, so you may need to start from an example config and modify the configuration manually to suit your machine:
