First I would just like to say thank you for all your work on this and am glad you are getting better.

I would just like to report that I just did a fresh install of LinuxCNC 2.9.2 from ( www.linuxcnc.org/iso/LinuxCNC_2.9.2-amd64.hybrid.iso ) and still experience the raspi-firmware script trying to run during an upgrade of the kernel.
Code:
/etc/kernel/postinst.d/dkms: dkms: running auto installation service for kernel 6.1.0-17-rt-amd64. dkms: autoinstall for kernel: 6.1.0-17-rt-amd64. /etc/kernel/postinst.d/initramfs-tools: update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-6.1.0-17-rt-amd64 raspi-firmware: missing /boot/firmware, did you forget to mount it? run-parts: /etc/initramfs/post-update.d//z50-raspi-firmware exited with return code 1 ... Errors were encountered while processing: # linux-image-6.1.0-17-rt-amd64 # linux-image-rt-amd64

The previous solution of removing it along with purging it from it from the system works and allows the upgrade to complete.
Code:
# rm /etc/{initramfs/post-update.d/,kernel/{postinst.d/,postrm.d/}}z50-raspi-firmware # apt purge raspi-firmware

I am not sure if the scripts being in the ISO effect it? e.g.
Code:
LinuxCNC_2.9.2-amd64.hybrid.iso\live\filesystem.squashfs\etc\kernel\postinst.d\z50-raspi-firmware LinuxCNC_2.9.2-amd64.hybrid.iso\live\filesystem.squashfs\etc\initramfs\post-update.d\z50-raspi-firmware

Thank you again!

This is very frustrating. It needs to be reported as a bug to Debian.

I think your line:
Installation of Ethercat - sudo apt install ethercat-master libethercat-dev

should also have:
linuxcnc-ethercat

at the end? that was missing for me.

Thanks for this image! made it wayyy easier than last time
