Why don't you just add it to the master branch? The disjointedness of this project is baffling to me sometimes. Navigating this mess as a new user must be an absolute nightmare.

It's actually quite simple to install Flex GUI and use it if you read the well thought out docs.
On the other hand adding this to the already bloated LinuxCNC with many confusing GUI's seems to be a nightmare and quite complicated.
IMHO GUI's should not be included in the main repo except for Axis so as to not drag in a huge amount of dependencies for nothing. Especially when many of the GUI's are not supported any more as the authors have moved on.

If anyone asked me to decide what way to go, i would be very hard pressed to decide as i see benefits on both sides.
Should i elaborate?

JT is expressing a view some developers have. Personally, I find there are so many simulations now the alternative is downright confusingĀ when looking for a specific sim. I think the solution is refactoring our git repo to support additional guis in a plugin type arrangement. That is not a trivial task.

As for guis there is good and bad on both sides of having code in and out of the main project.
Linuxcnc is lucky, it has both options.

So to get back on the subject of Flex GUI it is the only GUI that is very flexible and requires no programming to create the exact GUI "you" want without knowing anything about programming. If you just have one axis that's not a problem, Flex GUI can be as simple or as complex as you want. No other GUI is easy to change the look and feel and function for a non programmer.

And actually if you thing about it Flex GUI "is" a plugin for LinuxCNC.
You install Flex GUI using your favorite method apt, gdebi or command line and set the DISPLAY = flexgui it can't get much simpler than that.
