Cannot jog after updating to 2.8

I have this solved and I can now jog from the P4S pendant without homing. VistaCNC has a new vc-p4s.hal for 2.8 & 2.9. The file still has some errors in it but once corrected the jogging works.

The errors are in
section #1 LCD relative Coordinates
line 10 halui.axis.x.pos-relative needs changed to halui.axis.z.pos-relative.
section #9-Spindle
line 80 change halui.spindle.override.scale to halui.spindle.0.override.scale
line 81 change halui.spindle.override.count-enable to halui.spindle.0.override.count-enable
line 82 change halui.spindle.override.counts to halui.spindle.0.override.counts
line 83 change halui.spindle.override.value to halui.spindle.0.override.value

I'm running Axis but I think the OP was running Gmoccapy but I don't think that matters for this issue.

It should not, but maybe someone else can confirm that.
Thank you for the solution, more and more users are using those MPG so it might be helpful.

I did report the issues in the vc-p4s.hal file to VistaCNC so they can correct them in the file they offer for download.

The problem is still there but I've worked around it by not using the keyboard to jog or by not using the pendant while in MPG.
Now I got a few days when I don't have to mill anything so I decided to sort it out.
Here are my config files:
