After getting PP 2.2.4 to boot up. I've now got as far as getting a lathe setup working. I've moved various bits of my old HAL files over to get to the point where the axis, limits etc are working from the parallel port.

Now looking at the spindle, i used lincurve to get goo spindle speed control. I've tried copying lincurve.ko into the rtlib folder (as others have done successfully), but when i try and boot I got the following errors in the log file.

Any thoughts/help/ideas to resolve this much appreciated
Code:
lincurve: dlopen: /home/operator/tmc/rtlib/lincurve.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Starturn.hal:15: waitpid failed /home/operator/tmc/bin/rtapi_app lincurve Starturn.hal:15: /home/operator/tmc/bin/rtapi_app exited without becoming ready Starturn.hal:15: insmod for lincurve failed, returned -1 HALCMD ini file /home/operator/tmc/configs/tormach_lathe/Starturn.ini load failed with config file Starturn.hal Shutting down and cleaning up LinuxCNC...

I suspect (but do not know for sure) that you could simply copy lincurve.so
from a similar LinuxCNC installation (X86 64 bit LinuxCNC uspace )

One big change from PathPilot 1.x to 2.x is the change from a RTAI based RTOS
system to a Preempt-RT based RTOS

Real time library objects in RTAI are kernel modules (with a .ko suffix) but real time
library objects for Preempt-RT are userland modules (with a .so suffix)

Thanks PCW

Would anyone happen to have a copy of the lincurve.so file they could share?

Downloaded a copy of lincurve.so from here fedora.pkgs.org/29/rpm-sphere-x86_64/lin...15.1.x86_64.rpm.html

Copied it over into pathpilot but still getting the same error.

are the file permissions set as executable?
(make sure they match the permissions of the other .so files in the rtlib subdirectory)

I"ve got a copy build from the V2.0.5 source from tormach but my VM is refusing to connect to my network. soon as I can I'll put it in my dropbox and post a link

however, it's not saying it can't run it, it's saying it can't find it in your initial post
are you still getting that error.

It works :)

I checked PCWs suggestion about ensuring properties were set to executable. After setting them I then got a new error about another missing library.

I then tried smgvbest version of lincurve with properties set to executable and it worked.

Need to do some more tests but hopefully that means I've now ported my parallel port lathe Linux setup over to Parallel port pathpilot lathe. A bit more testing required but once confirmed working I will share my setup to help others.

Thanks both of you for your help getting this working.
Dave
