PlasmaC Line Cut Video was created by thefabricator03
Hi Guys,

I have made a video of PlasmaC line cut feature in Axis for those who are interested. My PowerMax was set to continuous arc mode and the gantry and z axis were controlled manually. Like a big CNC hand torch!

Here is the sheet after I have moved it, it is easy to handle these sized sections by hand.

I would not have thought of that so I must see if I can do the same with my machine.

I have to say that when indexing a full sheet on a small table its great to be able to sever the sheet after you have cut a table full.

I am using the RS485 interface and have the setting at 0 psi I think. That lets the machine set the air pressure.

Clive, for a 40-50 amp machine, try around 70-80 psi. Maybe your manual tells you what to use. From memory my machine at 40 amps my machine is meant to be set at 5.2 bar (around 75 psi)

Yes I am using about 75 psi, no cutting chart with the plasma. The cutter is only 40A.

I get a clean cut on 3mm at 2.5M/min and 6mm at 450mm/min. But in the vid above. he was cutting att 1.75M/min 45A at 5mm.

I am running the cutter off a 13A socket so I might not be getting the full 40A ie. volt drop in cable and fuse.

I will try it from a dedicated 16A supply socket.

I remember reading somewhere a while ago that the larger machines will cut at better quality with lower amps due to current density,

I think the example was a 65 amp machine will cut at 40 amps better than a 40 amp rated machine cutting at 40 amps.

My machine is rated at 125 amps.

Clive, check your email. I sent you something which may help.

Ignore the Hypertherm specs, they cut way faster than a lot of other machines. Also you need to profile cut height by trail and error. My guess is 1.7-1.8mm cut height at 1.8-2.2m/min but you don't say what height you are using.
