Not sure why.

I absolutely do not understand the logic of this module. no matter what heights I ask him for the probe and what speed. it still flies down at maximum speed, falls below a specified height, and hit into a sheet of metal.
where is the source code of this module?

I just finished some testing with a quickly made Z axis and a floating switch, it does not work if there are negative values for Z axis in the ini file. After setting the min to 0 and max to 60mm, it works.
Again, if you have limit switch/switches on the Z axis, it should be at the top, zero should be just a bit below the material.

no, it does not work at positive numbers too. I tried it before creating this topic.
min =0, home = 100 ( 50 or 120 or 210), probe height = any.
first of all - it goes up from home position
if home = 210 as usually, it hits limit switch.

ok, home = 100. then it go up to 150, then down.

againg - it works at XYZY. but pid values not in places. I tried calibration, I tried ini. No luck.

Home should be 0 in the ini file.
max_limit should be how far up your Z axis goes.

Normally for a float switch the offset will be positive.

If you use the jog buttons for the Z axis does it move in the correct direction?

Do your X and Y axes move correctly.

But I decided to install the THC and update the linuxcnc 2.7 to 2.9.

2.8 would be the better version to use unless you are doing any development.

Just wanted to use PlasmaC + THC

Not quite sure what you mean here. Do you have an external THC, you have Mode =1 which is internal THC.

X Y Z move correctly. by jog buttons or by software.
I tried MODE 0 and 1. Same.

Will move to 2.8

Thanks, I will build a config with your ini file and try to see what is happening.

Does the Z move down when going in - on screen and up when going + ?

I have a config working fine here with the ini file you posted.

You have a 30mm Probe Height and a -25mm Ohmic Offset, that means when it detects a material with the ohmic probe then it will drive down another 25mm to take up that offset. This does show up a minor bug in that it doesn't report an error if it gets to the Z minimum at this stage, is just sits there waiting... I will fix that bug but it doesn't really affect the operation.

I think you would need to have a Probe Height of around 45mm or so as the way it is you need to catch the material in that 5mm range.

I have tried with (Zmax=0 Zmin=-215) and (Zmax=215 Zmin=0) and (Zmax=107.5 Zmin=-107.5) it worked correctly for all cases.

What sort of ohmic probe do you have with a -25mm offset.

Do you understand what the error messages you posted mean?

material too high for safe traverse.
ohmic probe detected while moving to probe height.

linuxcnc.org/docs/2.8/html/plasma/plasma...html#_error_messages

Just for interests sake I tried these figures and it still worked:
Code:
[AXIS_Z] MAX_LIMIT = -200.0 MIN_LIMIT = -415.0 [JOINT_3] MAX_LIMIT = -200.0 MIN_LIMIT = -415.0 HOME = -205.0 HOME_OFFSET = -210.0
