Clive, With the 45XP just reconfigure the divider to be 30:1 and run the THCAD-10 with no scaling. That is perfect.
The older ones did not support 30:1 but now they do. Just check the manual to be sure.
Thats how I've got my Thermal Dynamics set up.

Clive S wrote: OK what parameters do I need to look at. I having trouble with thin 2-3mm cuts with arc lost usually. It seems to be fine on 6mm upwards.

The arc ok light comes on but fails so it probe again and again. Would the air pressure need to be lowered on thinner cuts.

I have tried at 2300mm/m down to 200mm/min. I use a reed switch for the arc OK.

On a side note: nothing to do with above what THC would I require for a HF start machine and what THC for a Hypatherm 45 coupled with a 7i96. Reason I asked is the the guy wants to use a HF plasma first and then buy a 45 later. Could the THC 10 be used for both.

your reed switch is the issue,, if you have THCAD no need for the reed switch, or re design your reed switch
to verify increase the amp and increase the speed,

the magnate not strong enough to keep the switch on,, it oscillate on low power cutting
do you know @ what voltage ur reed switch trigger on? if no then no need to use arc ok signal,, just invert it to be always arc ok
in 2mm sheet arc ok about 80-90v
on 6mm 105-110 v
those from LGK 100 specs

Not really, i use them a lot on plasma cutters, they never failed.

That is true, that can be the issue at low current or thin material.
In this case it was the initial transfer current on thin material, solved by him by adding a pause of 0.5 sec after pierce.

The reed switch is fine and works my issue was resolved by changing the pause

Forgot to mention, i do have a machine with THCAD on the parallel port, mind you, without a reed contact, using thc voltage to generate the arcok signal, it has not failed yet, it's been some months now in use.
Then again, that will greatly depend on the plasma source.

I think you are correct there Tom.
