Try:
halcmd loadusr -Wn qtvcp_embed qtvcp -d -c qtvcp_embed -x {XID} cam_align

as phillc54's cam_align_handler.py named ..._2020-09-18.py still works fine in buster LCNC 2.8.0  there it does not work anymore in buster LCNC 2.8.2 

I haven't looked at this code for a long time...

thank you so much - just now, when I test with your named cam_align_handler.py file here, this loads and works in LCNC 2.8.2 as expected! 

Phill, may I ask, can you just publish the appropriate cam_align.ui file here, please?

The one in my previous post is the latest as far as I know.

I think I misunderstood, you wanted the .ui file.
It doesn't use a .ui file, it uses the standard QtVCP camview widget. the source is here:
