X and Y movement without Z and no cut was created by radek_marko
Hi,
Another lame question from a complete newbie - I have done two test cuts from g-code so far.
After a fresh start of LinuxCNC, when I load g-code, home all, enable torch and start cut by pushing the "play" button the head and starts moving but only X and Y directions. It does not probe nor cut.
When I do test cut from the PlasmaC panel (even 10mm) before g-code and then hit "play" the g-code is executed as expected.
There must be something very silly I'm doing (or not doing). Any suggestions, even with sarcastic commets would be much appreciated

Can you jog the Z axis from the console?
Will the Z axis respond to G0 commands via the MDI window?

I do not know the answer for the second question. Will check when I will be in front of the machine.

So I've added M03 S1 to g-code and I've cut the first file - Christmas crib, all went fine, the torch was lowered and g-code followed,
Then, without restarting LinuxCNC I've executed Snowman's cut and the plasma torch was lowered at the home position, pierced the plate and the torch was on and dragged to the expected pierce position and then the cutting commenced.
After the snowman, I've executed cut of the crib again and it did the same as on snowman - pierced at the home and moved torch at hight speed cutting to the first path from the file.
G-code of both attached.

In the folder where the Inkscape gcode is being saved, create a new EMPTY file and name it "header"
Inkscape will have an M3 always at the top of gcode, so the above will make sure not to have it.

Hi Tommylight, thank you for your help.
I will remove the code above and try to cut again.
Code:
(Header)
(Generated by gcodetools from Inkscape.)
(Using default header. To add your own header create file "header" in the output dir.)
M3
(Header end.)
I will remove the code above and try to cut again.
