@spumco:
In order to have a parts counter as a standard offering, I would think everything would need to be wired up to something, adding something like this in one of the user tabs seems like it would be the best fit. maybe add them on the nice big blank sidebar user tab or along with the large DRO's on the side for X and Z. I am not sure if linuxcnc has some form of build in part counter logic somewhere or not as i have not run across it, but you could use a simple macro call from gcode to add a count to a widget in the usertab for each time the macro gets triggered, this would be super simple to do and would not be something that got overwritten during updates if done in user tabs.that was the entire point of having those. there is already lots of real estate under the large sidebar DRO's as seen in the picture:

awesome! that would be a good machine for conversational probably if you have also a way to setup with quick change tool post. or always make parts that fit within the gang setup maybe!

As you probably know, I’ve been using Probe Basic Lathe for quite some time on a 200x400 mini-lathe.

I was gone for three years or so, cause I was moving house and shop.
I really fired um my lathe yesterday for the first time and updated to late latest version.
Great job guys and a big thank you to all who ware woking on the project, remembering how everything started this was smooth!
Just some things from my side to consider with the changes in the INI.
But it seems to run now and the conventional cycles are great now.
There are two thing I am missing.
One is, I would love to have a Hal pin for the jog increments to use fron the GUI. I have a user tab now for that, but I could use the space for some other stuff.
And a safety zone before the spindle. to not crash into the chuck, but to be able to also machine without one.
Kind of a tool table but for lathe chucks. then one also could set a limit to the RPM depending on the chuck.
At the moment I need to edit my ini for that.
But maybe there is already a solution for that. besides ignore limits.
I guess I'll give this lathe chuck extension a try, to get back in the LinuxCNC handling. I'll open a new topic for that.

On my lathe running PBL I have an adjustable (sliding) limit switch that I can reposition if I change the chuck and/or use a long tool. It doesn't set the soft limits but will stop the carriage and prevent a crash.
But yes, a configurable (soft) travel limit would be very helpful, so you could set it without having to edit the ini file.

the limits wee already on the machine and fixed.
But I solved it in a custom tab if its for anyone of interest:

anfanger, would you like to beta test the new conversational? it is far superior to the existing macros based version, very powerful, pretty much can run the lathe with no cam software .. let me know!
