I am new here and new to LinuxCNC. I have been using Mach3 for a long time so more familiar with that. I have a Pentium 4 system running a Celeron CPU, parallel port built in, running Debian and LinuxCNC 2.7.4.
I set the parport pins as per my controller board (TB6560 4 axis) and nothing is happening, I am hoping someone has the same controller board and can help me set it correctly.
The settings I am using are as follows:
X Axis STEP/DIR 16/1
Y Axis STEP/DIR 14/7
Z Axis STEP/DIR 3/6
I am also running a slave motor for the Y Axis but am unsure on setting it up, pin outs for A Axis (slave???) are 9 STEP/8 DIR and ESTOP Pin 13.
At wits end after having spent the whole day trying various combinations.
Thanks in advance,
Eric

If you have a working Mach3 configuration you should be able to import that directly into Stepconf.

I would suggest trying that first.

Thankyou very much for your help (link) I went back into the stepconf wizard and saw the "convert Mach3 .xml" I am sure you have heard the expression "Seeing without Looking", that was me!

I have a motor (axis A) slaved to Y, I assume this will operate the same as in Mach3?
Is there a thread for modifying the screen layout, I prefer my gcde down the right hand side, the black screen clear of text and the X Y Z coordinates to be in boxes.
Thanks
Regards

If it doesn't, it is a bit of a tweak to the HAL file to make it do that.

It depends on which UI you are using. Axis isn't easy to alter, unless you know Tcl.

G-screen is Glade-based and was designed to be easy to customise.
linuxcnc.org/docs/2.7/html/gui/gscreen.html
Gmoccapy started as a G-screen design but rather grew from there. It, too, can be customised using Glade.
