I finally got my 7I96 board configured and this is the error I get when I try to run it:

I would first suggest not using the 192.168.1.121 card address
and instead use 10.10.10.10 (this may not be the issue but it best
to not use an address that may overlap NAT ranges)

If you have intermittent connectivity issues I would check that the 7I96s
5V power does not drop out when under load (check to see if the card
ever resets randomly or when you start LinuxCNC)

I don't really know how to change the ip. I see ever where to change the jumper and I have done it numerous times. When I change it my pc can't find the device. Do I have to do more than just changing the jumper? I will read up on the what the leds on the card mean. I have a 5v regulator with cap for my power supply to the card.

You set the address to 10.10.10.10 by setting Jumpers
W5 and W6 to DOWN UP:

W5 W6
D    U

When this is done you must also set the host (PC) address to
say 10.10.10.100

You might want to install and use my 7i96 Configuration Tool it has quite a bit of info and can test the NIC time.

I finally got everything running except I don't have my probe hooked up, I am running on 21 volts. Should I use 5 volts or 21 volts for the probe. I also have 12 volts available. I think I have seen somewhere to use 21 volts but I want to be sure. I don't want to blow my board up. .

Terminal block TB3 is are the 7I96s isolated I/O connector. This has 11 3V-24V
inputs and six isolated high current outputs.

From the 7i96 manual...

What kind of 5 volt power supply should i use for my 7I96? I am using a common 7805 regulator. The board will run a few seconds and a couple of red lights beside the input terminal start blinking and apparently the board has shut down. I get some kind of joint error on linuxcnc. I can cut the power off a little while and turn it back on and the board goes through the same sequence. Nothing but the board is powered by the regulator. I am inputting about 20 volts to the regulator.

If your speaking of P3

P3 is the 7I96s 5V power connector. Do not supply any voltage other than 5V to P3!

A 5vdc regulated power supply will work. In a pinch you can use USB 5v if you don't have much load on the 5v
