I have rewired the first Box yesterday:

File Attachment:

I guess you are right with not noticing the difference between 5 an 1µm
But with the box open an having the manual I guess you can change between 1 and 5 µm per jumper setting. But not sure just a guess.
If I have 5µm resolution on the scales now I will change the Z axis my 3600 line encoder (bought this for the spindle, but the new motor hat its own) I have here instead go the 5000 which is in there right now. I its 1µ m I'll buy a third box.
Not sure what to do with the A Axis, this will be a project for later anyways.

Tanks Patrick

Installed all boxes including a third one.

youtube.com/shorts/AuqmkElyFVI

a bit odd is when I look at the encoder counts I have 1000 per mm when running against a dial indicator
but I needed to adjust my input scale to 40 in order get the DRO to also run correctly, never had this issue.

My new spindle motor arrived in port today, so I guess It can have a look at it and figure out how to mount it on the mill soon.

Hi,
I bought the same boxes for my TOS FNG 32 Retrofit.
How do you know how to plug them in to the Mesa board? Is there a manual on these?

Best regards

Sorry forgot to answer you, a manual can be found here:
www.atechauthority.com/pdf/EXE_602D_604C_605C.pdf
Connectors the are more or less standard then an work easily with mesa.

But look what the cat dragged in:

mad some mistake with the chose of the forwarder, should have used my standard one would have been cheaper.

started to take the head apart:

File Attachment:

looks quite crowded in here. Next to get the column as low as possible and the see how to get the old motor of. The new one is about 50 Kg I guess the old one is not lighter.
But I was happy to see the the new motor has a 400V fan.

Moved the Head down, so I don't have to lift the new motor so high:

then removed most of the housing, so I can access the Motor easily

Looking good :)

Is that a Siemens DC motor?
It looks very much like what I have on my machine, I hope I don't need to replace it.

It's a DC motor but not Siemens and I am replacing it I have a 3 Phase servo here. Which I hope will fit nicely.
I had some trouble with the drive unit and needed an encoder to run with linuxcnc. So I decided to change it.
