New motherboard was created by 3drouter71
What are the main tasks I need to prepare for when my new motherboard comes in. Running mini-itx mobo with 7i77/5i25 servo system. Machine was running perfectly before the mobo cut out.

No preparations needed, maybe just saving the config to a USB drive, and if the drive is ok, just insert it to the new mobo and it will work, so no installation or configuration needed.

I forgot to mention that the boards are different. The original was an Asus j1800i-a and the new one is an asrock Q1900b-itx.

It does not matter much, there is a very high probability that it will work as is.
Linux can do that, easily.

I run my lathe with a Q1900B-ITX, 5i25 and 7i76. At least ASM1083 based pcie-pci adapters should work.
See here for the original tests.

There is no mention about the controller IC in the text but ASM1083 is visible in the image. Should work.
this is the adapter I have.
There is no mention about the controller and it's not visible in the images so it's impossible to say. Maybe you can ask voltmart which controller that card has ?
Either from ebay should work, pick the one that fits better in your case...

Got the pc running...adapter coming in tomorrow. Should I run it fanless like my asus? Also, the mobo came with a cd that has drivers...I'm assuming I don't need any of that?....only using this pc to run the machine?...so I adjust the bios for low latency now then it should be just plugging in the Mesa gear and rolling??

Yep, no need for any drivers. And fans or not, it depends...
This is my lathe controller built into an old Topfield box. There is about 12mm between the heat sink and the case and I added two 40x40x10mm fans on top of the heatsink blowing air out of the box just to be sure because the box is so small. The fans run as slow as they can.
Mill controller ended up in the same case with other electronics when the old P4 Dell retired. One 80mm fan on the back, again blowing out, was already in place running at full speed.
I have also a third one that is in a little smaller case than the lathe controller. That one has only an ssd and the power supply in the box. One 80x80x9mm fan spinning as low as it can.
These 3 are dedicated to their machines, there is nothing else than linuxcnc running (ok, samba for transferring files and vnc server for remote use).
No need for any additional setup before plugging the mesa, just assemble the controller and then fix settings and install linuxcnc.
I think my board run a bit too hot for my taste on the table during the initial tests so I added the fans. Also because of the small boxes...
Others have reported to run fine without fans.
I suggest testing when the controller is assembled, install lm-sensors and check temperature while the system is running and add fan(s) if it's running too hot. The temperature depends also other things in the box (power supply, ssd/hdd, mesa) and how much holes there are (and where they are).
