Hey guys
I'm retrofitting a Nisshinbo hiq-1250 punching machine.

The machine has a hydraulic cylinder on the Z axis that descends when applying -10 volts and rises when applying +10 volts. The feedback for this movement is made with a magnetic sensor that has an output of 0 to +10V, showing the height position of the piston that hits the punch. The force of the beat is controlled by a proportional valve that works with a voltage of 0 to 24V.
This axis must have descent control which, depending on the power and strength, can drill, cut and press the metal sheet.
The machine already has the movements of the X Y and T axes (tool change) using the 7i96s and 7i84d boards.
I'm waiting for the 7I77 board to arrive, which has an analog output to control the hydraulic cylinder.
How do I configure the Z axis to be an analog output of -10V and + 10V with sensor feedback 0 to +10V?
Any example, no matter how simple, helps, I need an example of how this is done, or possible theories

Is there some way you could replace the 0..10V feedback device with
either an incremental or absolute (say BISS or SSI) linear encoder?
(an incremental encoder would need homing)

That would simplify things a bit

If you needed to use the 0..10V feedback you could add a 7I87
(which is overkill since it has 6 channels of +- 10V input)

Another possibility is to use the 7I77 analog inputs but they are
very crude and would only give about 1% resolution steps

THCAD ? 0-10V input, encoder output...
And to late but could have gotten a 7i83 for analog outputs, cheaper and easy to find, since you already have 7i96S

Thanks for the info. To connect the THCAD2 board to the 7i96s board, will it be via the encoder input?

TB2 PIN 7 ENCA+ ==== PIN 2 FREF+
TB2 PIN 8 ENCA- ==== PIN 3 FREF-
TB2 PIN 9 GND ==== PIN 1 GND
TB2 PIN 10 ENCB+ ==== PIN 4 FOUT+
TB2 PIN 11 ENCB- ==== PIN 5 FOUT-
TB2 PIN 12 +5VP ==== PIN 6 +5V

Yes, THCAD output to Mesa 7i96S encoder input.
But
No Fref, those are not used.
Only Fout to encoder A.
That also requires flashing the plasma firmware to 7i96S, it is included in the downloads on mesanet.com website.

Before purchasing the THCAD2, please, I need your professional help the procedure shown in the attached illustration (image) shows the connection diagram of the Mesa boards and the machine is allowed. The punch press has analogue drive for the Z -10 and +10 axes. I have already bought the 7i77 board and I am waiting for it to arrive, but I am worried about monitoring the Z axis as an encoder that has a magnetic sensor from 0 to 10 V, I intend to buy another THCAD2 board to convert the analog voltage from 0 to 10 V at the frequency so that does the 7i77 or 7i96s recognize it in LinuxCNC as the Z axis encoder position, can this setting be done as Z axis feedback to increase accuracy and correct positioning?

There is nothing in LinuxCNC that recognizes the THCAD output as Z axis feedback
This must be done entirely in the hal configuration for your machine.

What is the required resolution of the feedback signal?

That is what is the Z axis motion range and the expected accuracy?

If high resolution is required, this may suggest a 7I87 instead of a THCAD

Thank you very much for your feedback Mr. PCW.
I still don't know the necessary precision. When I return to the machine I will check the characteristics of the magnetic sensor. I will then use an analog input from the 7i96s or 7i77 and carry out tests on site to see if the results please the customer. Sorry for trying to predict this before going to the client, but this retrofit has already exceeded the time limit and I need to resolve it as quickly as possible. I thank everyone for LinuxCNC, I hope I can also contribute when I know something that others still don't know.
