If you want to use the "mode" button to switch to manual mode for jog:
# Switch to mode.manual
net man_mode <= xhc-hb04.button-mode => halui.mode.manual

Thank you, I was the one that requested it. It was the first explanation I somewhat understood. I have been struggling on this for some time. I wish there was a "installing xhc pendant for dummies" file somewhere, that explained files needed, files to modify, where they are located, how they interact, etc

Would that go in the [XHC_HB04_CONFIG] section?

ericsalo, thank you. I have mpg responding, although it doesn't seem to have all functions. I think maybe because of all the lines I had to comment out in the xtc-hbo4 hal to get it to even come up originally, I will un comment them and try again. 2 questions, 1, what version of linuxcnc are you using this on, and 2, can you post your xhc-hb04.hal?
edit, I un-commented lines that were giving issue earlier, they no longer a problem, but I still have mpg functions that dont respond.
