Thats a bug in mesaflash, the fix is to fetch and build the current version of mesaflash from:
github.com/micges/mesaflash

OK I have the SAME problem. I have a 7i92 and just want to plug it into my G540.
I downloaded and built the micges/mesaflash code, but it does the SAME thing "6slx9tqg144, should be xc6slx9", at least with the .bit files from Mesa Support. Any ideas?

I released mesaflash 3.2. It should be available to update and this bug is fixed.
