Mesa 7i76E - Is It Supported by PnCConf ?

Guys,

I'm currently using the Mesa 5i25/7i76 cards for a CNC router. Thanks to the work people have put into the LinuxCNC program, and the support on this site, I found it relatively easy to configure using the PnCConf wizard in version 2.5 of LinuxCNC.

I'm looking at the Mesa control options for a CNC lathe I'm working on, and wondered if the Mesa 7i76E (Ethernet) card is as well supported in the current version of the LinuxCNC software? Is it as simple as connecting it to the USB port on the motherboard, and then wiring/configuring with the PnCConf wizard just like the 5i25/7i76 setup?

Cheers, Steve

You do have to configure the motherboard lan port to a fixed address usually 10.10.10.1. In addition to that you need to be running the Rt Preempt kernel with LinuxCNC Uspace. mesaus.com/index.php?route=product/produ...ath=68&product_id=72

I don't see a 7i76e option in pncconf but it should be pretty straight forward to convert a 5i25/7i76 configuration by changing the names.

Edit: so much for trusting your memory...

A minor correction:
The 7I76E default EEPROM IP address is 10.10.10.10 so the motherboard port would be set to 10.10.10.1

Thanks guys, That board opens up options to use a compact all-in-one touchscreen PC I was looking at. I loaded Debian and the RT kernel and had a play with it. All good, so I'll get that board instead of the 5i25/7i76.

I have a 5i25_7i76, and I can't get the I/O to work.
I am considering an Ethernet option as well.
I am hoping for the 7i96 to work in Debian.
Do you have any suggestions or info on how to get the I/O to work on the 7i76. Then I don't need to buy something else.
By the way: How did the 7i76E work out?
thanks

What problem do you have with the 7I76 I/O?

I have spent many days trying to get to use the inputs and outputs.
I used to be able to use the estop and external jog pendant, and now nothing works for I/O. All machine control is good.
I am suspicious that the board may have been damaged somehow.
I get many opinions on how it needs to be set up, but nothing works.
I keep getting errors stating input or output does not exist.
Presently using Debian and PNCconfig.
I started a thread elsewhere herein, just saw this convo and thought I would ask because I am considering just going to another board, the 7i96 which is Ethernet and looks like it's only 1 card, not two like the 5i25_7i76. Just don't know if it will work in Debian.

I replied on you other related thread. The most common problem with field I/O not working is power related (either 5V or field power missing)

More rare issues are wrong VIN jumpering/power, 7I76 jumpered for setup mode
or wrong firmware (Your other post indicates that the firmware is correct)

Did you get the 7i76E working?'
In which platform? USpace.
Did it have it in PNCconfig?
Do you know if you can use a laptop?
I am presuming that it is the only card you need. Not two like the 5i25)7i76. Is that correct?
