7i92 and modbus was created by R6MF49T2
Hi,
I plan to buy 7i92 to control three-axis milling machine.
My spindle can be controlled by rs485 interface (modbus).
The Mesa site have firmware with name "7i92_7i78x2D.bit". From this I conclude that 7i92 board can be connected to the board 7i78, which has rs422 (easily converted to rs485).

Can the board 7i92 control the spindle by rs485 / rs422?

It would be possible in principle, but there is not an existing driver.

There are HAL components that can control RS485 spindle drives using either the serial port or a USB to serial converter.

For most spindle-based operations, as long as the spindle _feedback_ is realtime the spindle control does not have to be.

I am using the HuanYang version on my lathe and it is working well.

I would like to computer was maximum far from the milling machine. In this case it would be convenient to use ethernet cable only.

Where i can I find an example of working rs422 with the board 7i92?
