Mesa 5i25 with 7i76 and 7i77 was created by squan09
I am trying to set up a 5i25 which has been loaded with the firmware for 7i77 and 7i76. For the moment I only want to set up the 7i76. Is this possible or do I need to change the firmware. Also, if I can set it up with only the 7i76, does it matter which connector on the 5i25 (P2 or P3) I use? Thanks.

I just found it in the manual. 7i77 should be on P3 and 7i76 on P2.

Looks like I'll need to update the firmware to 7i76X2 since I do not have the P2 connector yet. To update the firmware do I need to change any jumpers?

maybe 5i25_7i76_7i77.bit (instead of 5i25_7i77_7i76.bit ) file swaps P2 with P3?

to update the firmware you need to use mesaflash, see te instruction on the 5i25 manual. (no need to change jumpers)

Thanks for pointing that out. I did not notice both were in there.

After updating the firmware it looks like P2 and P3 are swapped after I check from the terminal, however in PNCConf I/O Connector 2 still had the StepGen pins. I have been able to make my stepper motor move, but now I get an error when trying to set up a limit switch. The line in the hal file that is causing the error is:

net min-x <= hm2_5i25.0.7i76.0.3.input-00

Any thoughts on this? It seems like it might be a limitation of PNCConf?

And what is the error displayed?

I'm away from the computer right now, but I believe the error was pin not found.

I decided to upload the firmware for 5i25_7i76x2 and one motor and one limit switch is working now. I'll check later, but I think PNCConf created the wrong name when trying to swap the connectors with the other firmware.
