Mesa 7i97 setup problem
I have a Mesa 7i97 connected to my Linux PC with Debian 9.12 running LinuxCNC 2.7.15.
I was already able establish a connection and read out the card with:
mesaflash --device 7i97 --readhmid
I created a new machine configuration using the following HAL and INI files.
When I try to start LinuxCNC with this configuration nothing happens. The boot window appears for a couple of seconds but nothing happens afterwards.
Does somebody know how I can solve this problem?

Unfortunately I still can't get it to run, the debug file intofrmation states the following:
Note: Using POSIX realtime
hm2: Firmware contains unknown function (gtag-30)
Could not open command file 'shutdown.hal'
3879
Stopping realtime threads
Unloading hal components
Note: Using POSIX realtime
I guess it has something to do with the unknown function?

Most probably can be safely removed from the ini or crate an empty file with that name and extension in the config folder you are trying to launch.

not stop linuxCNC from starting. tommylight is correct that the actual startup error is
the missing hal file, but for full functionality a 7I97 needs LinuxCNC 2.9

No it is not, but it is !Can you tell me if 7i97 is supported in pncconf in LCNC 2.9.
There is no 7i97 in Pncconf, but there is 7i92 with 7i77, and that is basically the same thing, so create a config with those cards selected and save, open the ini file and change the name of the card, save.
Beware, for that to work, you have to select as in the screenshot on the second page of Pncconf

I'm trying to setup 7i97 using pncconf and when I reach the mesa card configuration page 'MESA 0' I do not see an option for a single 7i77, only 7i77_7i76 is available. As per my understanding and your comments above mesa 7i97 is equivalent to 7i92+ one 7i77. So which Firmware option should I select? i have attached a picture for your reference.
