does linuxcnc support running an ethernet card (7i96+7i77) with a parport card?

Hi,

The title says it. I have a 7i96 + 7i77 combo while installing it. I realized I didn't have enough Sourcing I/O inputs for all the stuff I wanted. I was thinking of buying an inexpensive parport to add more I/O and some more for the future. But I am not sure if Linuxcnc supports running an ethernet card with a parport.

I don't see why not, a Mesa Smart Serial card is pretty cheap for more I/O.

7i77 already has a SSerial port on it so a 7i84 ( 32 in / 16 out) or a 7i70 (48 in) or a 7i71 (48 out) can be added with a single FTP/STP/UTP cable.
And yes, parallel port works with Mesa boards, even PncConf has that option during setup.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. Which mesa card are you referring to. Is it the 7i84 like tommylight mentionned?

Pretty sure it is.
Not my place to reply to a question addressed to him although it was not mentioned explicitly to whom. :)
Just noticed he has replied!
