Fanuc OT button pad to Mesa? was created by Ross77
Not sure if this is the right section but I'm trying to decide if I should reuse the Fanuc button pad on my Boxford lathe, as it has most of the functions I need and fits nicely to the machine. The keypad looks easy enough to connect up the buttons but they also have the led light which would be good to incorporate.
I'm using a Mesa 7i96 and also have the 7i73 for extra I/O
First question: can this be done or is it a programming and relay nightmare to get it all working?
Second question : has anyone else interfaced a similar keypad and how did you do it?

If it's just a bare matrix, the 7I73 could probably drive it
Not enough outputs for all the LEDs though

I haven't had time to fully check the pin out but it doesn't look like a matrix and there is only a 50pin connector on the board, so I'm not sure how that's supposed to control the switches and LEDs.
Part of me thinks it would be good to reuse it and part thinks Im just being lazy and should remake the control panel with only the buttons I need.
